Hot Water, Cold Water, and Mixed Water Temperatures

We did a science lab today.  We measured the temperature of hot and cold water and recorded it.  The students were in groups of three.  As a group they decided if they were going to use 2 cups of cold water and 1 cup of hot water, 2 cups of hot water and 1 cup of cold water, or one cup of each for their mixed water temperatures.  We had a nice mixture of choices.  Then they measured this temperature.  After sharing aloud these numbers, the students recored on a sheet all three temperatures.  It was a very enjoyable afternoon of learning!  We have a science binder where we keep all of our science notes, information, and experiments.  All of these papers will come home when we complete the unit.  Ask your 2nd grader what role he/she had in the experiment today.  Tomorrow Pam Holz, Washington County Naturalist, will visit.  We are going to learn about the water cycle!!

Until next time....
